Seagate ST8000DM004

Over the course of about a year, I bought and shucked three 8TB Seagate portable hard drives. The models I picked up were STGY8000400 and STEB8000100 for approximately $160 CAD each. All of which contained the same identical 3.5" 8TB Seagate Barracuda model ST8000DM004. Interestingly, just the ST8000DM004 by itself costs about $200 CAD.

These are SMR drives but I've been using it in a ZFS pool without any issue.

Here is the smart output from the drive.

# smartctl -a /dev/sda
smartctl 6.6 2017-11-05 r4594 [x86_64-linux-4.18.0-80.11.2.el8_0.x86_64] (local build)
