MKVToolNix is an open source tool that lets you inspect, modify, or generate mkv files. It is capable of extracting components of an existing mkv such as subtitles, audio tracks, or video.

Extracting subtitles from an MKV file[edit | edit source]
Use MKVCleaver in conjunction with MKVToolNix to extract subtitles. MKVToolNix doesn't appear to let you extract specific tracks or subtitles as a .srt but still encapsulates it inside the MKV container.
