This page will go over the steps needed to get MacOS 11 running under VMware Workstation 16.
Requirements[edit | edit source]
The following software is required:
- VMware Workstation 16. Download from VMware's website.
- VMware Workstation unlocker. https://github.com/DrDonk/unlocker
- VMware Tools packages for OS X. https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/downloads/details?downloadGroup=VMTOOLS1126&productId=1073&rPId=64892
- MacOS 10.15 or MacOS 11 vmdk. https://www.mediafire.com/file/jgorjxzrf0czn14/macOS+Catalina+VMDK+10.15.7+by+techrechard.com.vmdk/file
Download and install VMware Workstation. Apply the unlocker patch to enable the MacOS guest option. Download and extract the VMware Tools package to obtain darwin.iso. Download the vmdk file containing the MacOS installer.
Setup[edit | edit source]
Create a new VM using the MacOS guest option. Attach the downloaded vmdk as the primary disk and boot. This particular disk image will automatically start the installation. Install the guest tools by mounting the darwin.iso image and running the installer.
