Installation

Consult https://github.com/nielsbasjes/gitlab-recipes/blob/master/install/CentOS_6.md

Seems like the instructions work quite well. Make sure all the dependencies it lists out are installed first (as it should).

rpm -Uvh http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

yum -y groupinstall 'Development Tools'

### 'Additional Development'
yum -y install vim-enhanced httpd readline readline-devel ncurses-devel gdbm-devel glibc-devel \
               tcl-devel openssl-devel curl-devel expat-devel db4-devel byacc \
               sqlite-devel gcc-c++ libyaml libyaml-devel libffi libffi-devel \
               libxml2 libxml2-devel libxslt libxslt-devel libicu libicu-devel \
               system-config-firewall-tui python-devel redis sudo mysql-server wget \
               mysql-devel crontabs logwatch logrotate sendmail-cf qtwebkit qtwebkit-devel \
               perl-Time-HiRes

yum update

chkconfig redis on
service redis start

chkconfig mysqld on
service mysqld start

/usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation

rm /etc/httpd/conf.d/welcome.conf

 vi /etc/httpd/conf.d/gitlab.conf
<VirtualHost *:80>
  ServerName gitlab.home.steamr.com
  ProxyRequests Off
    <Proxy *>
       Order deny,allow
       Allow from all
    </Proxy>
    ProxyPreserveHost On
    ProxyPass / http://localhost:3000/
    ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:3000/
</VirtualHost>

setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect on

cd /etc/mail
vim /etc/mail/sendmail.mc

In the sendmail config file, you will want to set the SMTP server, and possibly the credentials (see Configure Sendmail for more information).

mkdir /tmp/ruby && cd /tmp/ruby
wget ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/1.9/ruby-1.9.3-p429.tar.gz
tar xfvz ruby-1.9.3*.tar.gz
cd ruby-1.9.3*
./configure
make
make install

 gem install bundler
