To fix this issue:
# SSH to the ESXi Server
# run <code>fdisk /dev/disks/&lt;device in question&gt;
# delete any partitions that might exist using 'd'
# create a new parptition using 'o'

Whenever you attempt to create a datastore, you are shown the following error:

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreCreateOptions" for object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi "172.20.1.26" failed.

To fix this issue:

  1. SSH to the ESXi Server
  2. run fdisk /dev/disks/<device in question>
  3. delete any partitions that might exist using 'd'
  4. create a new parptition using 'o'
  5. Re-attempt to create the datastore in vSphere

Here is what I did with fdisk:

~ # fdisk /dev/disks/t10.ATA_____ST3500630NS_________________________________________5QG0D3KF
