When booting Linux, the screen is completely empty except for:

probing edd (edd=off to disable)... ok

This is typically because of a custom console parameter being passed to the kernel and all messages are sent somewhere other than your screen (tty0). Check whether your boot options have likes such as {{{1}}} and change them to {{{1}}} instead.
