Ebay[edit | edit source]
Do not buy items on Ebay with a delivery period that exceeds 60 days. These items will likely take so long to arrive that the feedback window for the seller expires. You will also need to open a dispute with Ebay shortly after the shipping window period or risk losing your money if it doesn't arrive.
If possible, find an item that is shipped with SpeedPAK. SpeedPAK from China to Canada usually takes about 1-2 weeks, but on some occasions 3 weeks.
Some items on Ebay do not list SpeedPAK as the shipping method even if the seller uses it. These are typically items with a delivery window of 13-57 or 14-58 days). Anything windows that are longer typically will use Flyt or Yanwen and may get stuck waiting for a plane. This also isn't a rule. For example, an item with a 11-55 day window was shipped with Yanwen.
AliExpress[edit | edit source]
The AliExpress Saver Shipping method (listed as AliExpress - 无忧物流-标准/無憂物流標準, or AliExpress - Worry Free Standard) is operated by Cainao and appears to use any number of shipping methods including: 4PX+UBI Smart Parcel, EMS, China Post. All orders shipped with this method arrived within 2 months. This method is an insured way for sellers to ship items since any disputes are handled by this platform. The 'worry free' aspect is mostly for the seller since once the item is sent, they do not need to worry about its delivery status. Items using this method are also tracked to ensure that the item has been delivered.
I have stopped buying from AliExpress because if anything happens to your shipment, you really have no recourse. You can't ship it back (shipping costs more than the items usually) and their arbitration system typically rules in favor of the seller.

Other observations and patterns[edit | edit source]
- It takes about 5-6 days to ship from Vancouver to Calgary (via Edmonton) or 3 days if direct. It takes Canada Post and UPS about 6-7 days (including weekends) to deliver from Halifax to Calgary.
- SunYou appears to be via China Post. The tracking number China Post assigns the package is untracked.
- Untracked packages will not have status updates after leaving China. These include the cheap Cainao Super Economy, Cainao Global, Yawen, SunYou.

AliExpress shipping buggered up this order completely. AliExpress refunded the order, hopefully to no loss to the seller since it wasn't the seller's fault.
The seller on AliExpress tried to ship the item but it was returned back to him because he claimed China customs rejected it. He then shipped it again and gave me a tracking number 4006318634940961 and is tracked by a China Post number LZ131651066CN. LZ131651066CN was sent on May 31, given to an airline on June 4, arrived in Richmond BC on June 24, Canadian customs released it on June 24, and Canada Post processed it on June 29 and delivered it 8 days later on July 7. (8 days including the weekend and Canada Day). However, this package wasn't actually what the seller intended to send me. Instead, it was actually LP00180005419687 which the same seller intended for someone in Italy. Two and a half weeks later, another package arrives via ePacket with the same tracking number LZ131651066CN. This package was the actual package with the original 4006318634940961 number under the ePacket label. Looking at the tracking history again, it appears that the events for the two parcels are interleaved since there exists duplicate key events such as departure and arrival. I believe that this package was also sent on May 31, given to an airline on June 14, arrived at Burnaby BC on July 22, and delivered on July 24. (2 weekdays) |
